At the meeting, VCCI Vice President Nguyen Quang Vinh presented an overview of VCCI's role as the national organization representing Vietnam’s business community, with a strong focus on the private sector. VCCI operates an extensive network of regional branches across the country, representing approximately 200,000 member companies and connecting with nearly 1 million enterprises nationwide. Internationally, VCCI has signed over 200 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with partners and maintains close cooperation with foreign business associations in Vietnam.
Minister Counsellor Guna Seelan Balakrishnan reviewed significant milestones in bilateral relations, emphasizing the momentum generated since the two nations elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024. In 2025, two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Malaysia reached approximately US$21 billion. Major Malaysian corporations - including Petronas, Gamuda Land, ParkCity, and Netco Post, alongside leading financial institutions such as Maybank, CIMB, and Public Bank - continue to operate successfully and expand their investments in Vietnam across key growth sectors including renewable energy, real estate, logistics, and banking.
As part of the upcoming trade promotion agenda, the Embassy of Malaysia announced details regarding the CEO Forum, scheduled for October 28 in Hanoi. The forum will feature representatives from the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), and approximately 10 prominent Malaysian enterprises. The Embassy requested VCCI's assistance in inviting high-level Vietnamese business leaders to attend, engage in high-level exchanges, and establish sustainable business networks.
VCCI Vice President Nguyen Quang Vinh warmly welcomed the proposal, assuring that VCCI will actively coordinate information distribution and invite appropriate business leaders to join the forum. Furthermore, he reaffirmed that VCCI stands ready to assist incoming Malaysian business delegations in exploring investment opportunities and connecting with reliable local partners across Vietnam.
