On June 25, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ho Chi Minh City Branch (VCCI-HCM) held an official membership admission ceremony for 23 businesses, including 20 LLCs and 03 joint stock companies.

Speaking at the admission ceremony, VCCI Vice Chairman Vo Tan Thanh reviewed the formation and development process of VCCI. According to VCCI Vice Chairman Vo Tan Thanh, from an initially small-scale organization when it was first established, equivalent to only a Department of the Ministry of Foreign Trade (now the Ministry of Industry and Trade) and with only a few dozen member enterprises, mainly state-owned import-export enterprises. Up to now, after 62 years of development, VCCI has become a strong organization with over 200,000 members (both direct and indirect).
VCCI Vice Chairman said that during the development process, VCCI has made very positive contributions, especially in relation to the issue of perfecting the socialist-oriented market economic institution. Besides, VCCI also makes great contributions to expanding international relations, trade and investment between Vietnam and other countries, especially countries outside the Socialist bloc such as the United States, Japan, Europe, etc.

“Up to now, VCCI has a nationwide network with over 200,000 member businesses, including both official and indirect members. At the same time, it has established relationships with hundreds of international organizations, representing the business community around the world,” said VCCI Vice Chairman Vo Tan Thanh.
Sharing about the VCCI's operational orientation in the coming time, VCCI Vice Chairman Vo Tan Thanh said that the coming time will have many opportunities and also many challenges. In particular, in 2024 and 2025, the Politburo has issued 4 key resolutions including: Resolution 57 on science and technology development, Resolution 59 on international integration, Resolution 66 on institutional improvement and Resolution 68 on private economic development. Therefore, VCCI will closely follow these 4 pillar Resolutions and include them in its action program.

One of the main tasks of VCCI in the coming time is to continue to advise the Party and the State to perfect the socialist-oriented market economic institution. VCCI, as an organization representing the business community, will fully collect opinions of the business community to reflect to State management agencies, in order to create the most favorable conditions for businesses in production and business activities.

According to VCCI Vice Chairman Vo Tan Thanh, Vietnam is a country with an economy that is deeply integrated with the world. Currently, Vietnam has signed 17 bilateral and multilateral Free Trade Agreements with about 60 countries around the world. Therefore, VCCI will continue to take on the responsibility of helping businesses improve their competitiveness and integrate more successfully, especially in the current context of many challenges, especially the issue of trade relations with the United States, when the new high tariff rate is about to be applied, causing many difficulties for Vietnamese businesses. In that situation, VCCI's mission is to help businesses expand their markets. This is also one of the important and urgent tasks of VCCI.

Another very important issue in VCCI's operation plan according to VCCI Vice Chairman Vo Tan Thanh is to support the business community in the application of science and technology, innovation. He said that the current trend of the world is to transition to a green economy, a circular economy, and sustainable development.
"Regarding this issue, VCCI also has a Sustainable Development Business Council. In the coming time, we will continue to promote this issue to support businesses, especially in the digital economy and digital transformation. This is a matter of survival, we cannot help but do it, especially for export enterprises, which need to access new markets. In addition, we will also strengthen activities to build a transparent and honest business culture," emphasized VCCI Vice Chairman Vo Tan Thanh.
He also hopes that in the coming time, new member businesses will actively participate in VCCI activities, to contribute to the common development of the business community. At the same time, share and connect with other businesses to expand their business networks, share experiences to develop together.
