The agreement establishes a coordination mechanism between the tax authority and the bank, helping simplify tax compliance procedures, promote cashless payments and improve access to financial solutions for the business community.
Connecting tax and banking services on the digital journey
Under the agreement, the Department of Taxation and SHB will strengthen cooperation in communicating and disseminating tax policies and regulations; helping taxpayers access electronic tax platforms, file declarations and fulfil their tax obligations; and connecting banking services with the operational needs of businesses, household businesses and individual business operators.
Accordingly, SHB will work with the tax department, provincial and municipal tax authorities and local tax offices to guide and support taxpayers in accessing electronic tax platforms such as eTax Mobile and the electronic tax portal at thuedientu.gdt.gov.vn.
The aim is to provide a seamless digital experience, from opening bank accounts and accessing electronic tax services to filing declarations and paying taxes. This will give taxpayers greater access to convenient, secure and transparent payment methods while reducing difficulties in completing related procedures.
In addition to providing assistance with digital platforms, the two parties will establish channels to receive enquiries, provide technical support and address issues faced by businesses, household businesses and individual business operators during implementation.
The tax department will coordinate training and provide information, materials and experts to guide SHB employees on tax policies, helping improve the quality of customer advice and support in completing tax administrative procedures and using electronic tax applications such as eTax Mobile.
"Digital transformation is bringing about profound changes in the productive forces. Both tax authorities and the banking system are accelerating modernization of their management activities and improving public services for citizens and businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises and household businesses," said Mai Son, deputy director of the Department of Taxation.
"However, to ensure that the achievements of modernization deliver genuine added value to citizens and businesses, the tax authority has identified the need to continue administrative procedure reforms. The focus is on helping household businesses and enterprises optimize processes ranging from sales management and tax declarations to the use of e-invoices, digital signatures and electronic payments," he noted.
"We highly appreciate the initiative and sense of responsibility shown by commercial banks in supporting household businesses and enterprises in their production and business activities," Son added.
Expanding access to financial solutions for the business community
Alongside cooperation in supporting tax compliance, the agreement provides a basis for helping taxpayers with payments, cash flow management, access to capital and the use of financial services for production and business activities.
This is expected to create further opportunities for businesses, household businesses and individual business operators to gradually improve financial management capabilities, become more proactive in organizing their operations and adapt to the digital business environment.
The cooperation will be conducted on the principles of openness and transparency, while respecting taxpayers' right to choose their banks, e-invoice service providers, accounting software, sales software and other support services in accordance with the law. The partnership will also comply with relevant regulations, including requirements on personal data protection, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of all parties.
"The cooperation agreement with the Department of Taxation is a concrete step in SHB's strategy to become a 'new-generation bank of national stature'. It also reflects our commitment to connecting banking services with the practical needs of the economy," said Ngo Thu Ha, SHB's general director.
"We believe effective coordination between the two parties will deliver tangible benefits to taxpayers, helping promote cashless payments and digital transformation while building a transparent and convenient business environment," she added.
The partnership between SHB and the tax department also represents a practical step towards implementing the spirit of the Politburo's Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation. It aims to facilitate business operations and tax compliance while contributing to national development in the new era.
Expanding cooperation to support national digital transformation
SHB has become a trusted partner, providing financial products and services to hundreds of other administrative and public-service organisations, including schools, state agencies and state-owned enterprises.
In early 2026, SHB and the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism's Tourism Information Centre signed a cooperation agreement to promote an integrated smart tourism ecosystem, with technology, data and digital finance serving as its pillars.
The bank has also joined the Vietnam Medical Tourism Alliance as a founding member and financial and technology partner, with the aim of building a modern, smart and sustainable medical tourism ecosystem.
SHB is accelerating digital transformation through its 5 FIRST technology strategy: Data & AI First, People First, Cloud First, Security First and Mobile First.
On this basis, the bank is developing secure, customer-centric digital services to help individuals, household businesses, enterprises and public and administrative organizations digitize transactions, strengthen financial control, improve operational efficiency and enhance competitiveness.
These initiatives are also concrete steps in SHB's journey towards realising its ambition of becoming a new-generation bank of national stature, linking the bank's growth with the development of businesses and the national economy.
