VCCI Vice President Nguyen Quang Vinh receives Zimbabwean Ambassador Constance Chemwayi

At the meeting, Ambassador Constance Chemwayi said that the Zimbabwean diplomatic mission had recently conducted market surveys and worked with several ministries and sectors in Vietnam. On that basis, Zimbabwe is actively preparing for the official visit and working trip to Hanoi by a high-level Zimbabwean business delegation in the second week of November.

The Zimbabwean delegation will include representatives from trade and investment promotion agencies, key ministries and sectors, local authorities, and leading businesses to connect with partners and seek business cooperation opportunities in areas such as agriculture, manufacturing, mining, infrastructure, and telecommunications in Vietnam.

Ambassador Constance Chemwayi appreciated VCCI's role as a bridge in recent years and expressed her hope that VCCI would continue to support efforts to mobilize the Vietnamese business community to participate in the Vietnam-Zimbabwe Business Forum during the visit.

VCCI Vice President Nguyen Quang Vinh affirmed that strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation has practical significance for diplomatic relations between the two countries. VCCI is always ready to welcome international business delegations, including those from Zimbabwe, to conduct market surveys and seek partners in Vietnam. He committed to closely coordinating with the Embassy of Zimbabwe to carefully prepare trade and business networking activities, while actively encouraging Vietnamese businesses to explore investment and business opportunities in the Zimbabwean market in particular and the African region in general.

Notably, during the upcoming visit and working trip by the Vice President of Zimbabwe, the two sides agreed to work toward finalizing and signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between VCCI and the Zimbabwe Chamber of Commerce (ZCC), creating a firm legal foundation for promoting trade and business activities between the business communities of the two countries in the coming period.

After half a century of diplomatic relations, Vietnam and Zimbabwe have maintained their traditional friendship. However, bilateral trade and investment exchanges remain relatively modest and do not fully reflect the potential and actual needs of the two economies.

There is still significant room for economic cooperation between Vietnam and Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe has abundant natural resources, particularly minerals, extensive agricultural land, and is a potential market for Vietnamese consumer products, garments, agricultural machinery, and telecommunications services. In turn, Vietnam is an important gateway for Zimbabwean goods to enter the Southeast Asian (ASEAN) market.

In particular, as Zimbabwe is an active member of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and Vietnam is deeply engaged in next-generation free trade agreements, cooperation between the two countries extends beyond bilateral ties and opens opportunities for interregional connectivity, helping businesses on both sides expand their import and export markets and participate in global value chains.
