Delegates at the conference on discussing future plans and regulations for reducing inventory and emissions in supply chains

This event supported the national objective of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, which is critical in addressing climate change and securing a sustainable future for future generations.

The discussions were particularly timely, as businesses are urgently required to assess inventory reports and develop strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the new standards set by Decree 06/2022/ND-CP. Over 140 representatives from leading supply, transport, and logistics companies met with experts from the Department of Climate Change, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and other consulting agencies.

Addressing the event, Mr. Pham Hoang Hai, Head of Partner Relations at VBCSD, remarked, "In recent years, VBCSD and Nestlé Vietnam have launched several meaningful and valuable cooperation programs, exchanges and dialogues. These initiatives not only keep businesses informed but also facilitate their involvement in refining legal policies, which in turn promotes more sustainable practices for addressing climate change."

 Nestlé Vietnam, a strategic partner of VBCSD, outlined the substantial measures it has taken to sustainably transform its business operations. Mr. Khuat Quang Hung, Director of External Affairs and Communication at Nestlé Vietnam, explained, "Since unveiling the Net Zero Roadmap in 2020, we have introduced two core strategies aimed at reducing Scope 3 emissions: the 'Nestlé Forest Positive' strategy for the conservation and restoration of forests and natural habitats, and the 'Nestlé Agricultural Framework' which seeks to foster a more renewable agriculture and food system. Moreover, we are committed to lowering emissions in our transport and logistics operations by implementing effective initiatives and solutions."

 Mr. Hung highlighted Nestlé Vietnam's commitment to sustainability through circular economy and regenerative agriculture. In 2023, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to promote low-emission agriculture via the Sustainable Agriculture Partnership Program (SAPP). This initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce emissions and enhance transportation and logistics efficiency through innovative technologies like 'Cargoo' and 'Transportation-Hub', which optimize order processing and reduce emissions.

The discussion not only updated participants on global commitments and regulations, but also helped businesses understand market demands. It raised awareness and encouraged investment in eco-friendly technologies, contributing to a sustainable future.
