VCCI Executive Vice President Nguyen Quang Vinh receives the delegation of A.P. Moller- Maerks Group 

At the meeting, Mr. Rene Piil Pedersen said that Maersk had been making efforts to build an efficient and highly sustainable logistics system in Vietnam, especially in the Northern region. Specifically, the group focuses on researching and investing in the green transportation system (Green Ship) by replacing fossil fuels with green materials (Green Methanol), enhancing the search for optimal solutions for warehouse systems, electrification for transportation equipment using electricity, and helping to form a green supply chain.

Mr. Rene Piil Pedersen emphasized that Vietnam was considered a bright spot for investment because of the convergence of geographical conditions, technology and human resources.

In the coming time, Maersk will focus on areas such as e-commerce logistics, technology exchange for development in the Northern region, connection of transport systems including air transport; applying greenhouse gas emission reduction (Decarbonization) in the transport industry (ECO logistics) and the entire supply chain.

Talking about Maersk's upcoming goals in Vietnam, Mr. Rene Piil Pedersen shared that in the short term, Maersk would focus on importing trucks used in trucking and testing some prototype models. In the long term, Maersk would cooperate with a number of typical automobile manufacturing and assembling enterprises in Vietnam such as Vinfast to use for the green transport chain.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh said that the visit of Maersk coincided with the special occasion of the 60th anniversary of VCCI. VCCI represents more than 200,000 businesses and nearly 200 business associations in Vietnam and has a network of branches and representative offices across the country.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh highly appreciated Maersk's initiatives and efforts to reduce carbon emissions or become carbon neutral in production and business activities and wished that the group would enhance experience exchange and expand investment in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh also introduced the Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) - a business-oriented organization tasked with promoting the active role and enthusiastic support for the businesses community in implementing the Sustainable Development Strategy in Vietnam, strengthening close coordination and dialogue between the business community, and between the Government and partners in society to promote sustainable development. Presently, VCBSD has about 100 members who are large-scale companies in Vietnam and the world. Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh believed that Maersk's initiatives and activities in the field of sustainable development and green transport would bring many benefits to the economy and community for the sake of sustainable development in the near future.
