When Ms. Nga contacted the authorities, she was told that her degree only stated a master's degree in psychology, which was not clinical psychology. Her agency sent a dispatch to the University of Education asking about her degree, and she was told that the learning content and training results of the students fully ensured the capacity in accordance with the specialized orientation of clinical psychology.
Ms. Nga requested specific guidance so that she would have favorable conditions in the process of working and developing the clinical psychology profession.
Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Health responded as follows:
Currently, the issuance of practice licenses for the title of clinical psychologist is regulated in Decree No. 96/2023/ND-CP, according to which practitioners need to have a certificate of basic clinical psychology training, in case of graduation degrees (master's, doctorate...), the above degrees must be in the health field according to the provisions of Article 125 of Decree No. 96/2023/ND-CP.
However, the Ministry of Health is amending Decree No. 96/2023/ND-CP on diploma standards for clinical psychology to remove obstacles.
