In February 2025, Mr. Lam started working at another company and began paying social insurance contributions from April 2025 (the contribution amount was the same as the last month's contribution at his previous company). Mr. Lam checked his VssID and only saw a 6-month participation history. Mr. Lam asks whether his previous social insurance participation history at his old company will be disregarded? What is the procedure to combine the two periods of social insurance contributions? Regarding this matter, the Vietnam Social Security (VSS) responded as follows: Currently, the VssID application still has cases where employees have incomplete social insurance contribution records. When encountering this issue, employees should report it to their local social insurance agency or their employer (where they work) to coordinate with the social insurance agency to update the information completely. The Vietnam Social Security affirms that the entire social insurance and health insurance participation history of employees has been digitized, synchronized, and stored in the industry's database, ensuring their rights when receiving social insurance benefits. The Vietnam Social Security is accelerating solutions to fully update the social insurance participation data on the VssID application for employees as soon as possible. Because Mr. Lam has not provided complete personal information: Social Insurance number, date of birth, and Citizen Identification number, the Vietnam Social Security does not yet have the basis to search, verify, and provide detailed information on his social insurance contribution history.
