Elsewhere, Japan is poised to allow travelers from Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Vietnam entry starting this summer.

During a recent phone call with Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said he desires to soon hold discussions with Vietnam on resuming travel between both nations.

Vietnam has not allowed entry for foreign citizens since March 22 except diplomatic and official passport holders and business managers, experts and high-skilled workers. All are subject to a mandatory 14- day quarantine period immediately after their arrival.
