Pham Nhat Vuong, chairman of conglomerate Vingroup (HoSE: VIC), retained his position as Vietnam’s richest person as VIC shares closed the final trading session of the 2025 Lunar Year on Friday at VND160,000 ($6.16) each, up nearly 700% over the year.
Based on his listed shareholdings, Vuong’s assets on the domestic exchange reached more than VND557 trillion ($21.45 billion). Forbes estimates his global net worth at about $26.1 billion as of Saturday.
The surge in VIC shares reshaped the wealth rankings, giving rise to what local investors have dubbed the “Vingroup billionaires.”
Pham Thu Huong, Vuong’s wife and vice chairwoman of Vingroup, climbed to second place with assets valued at roughly VND55 trillion ($2.12 billion).
Vietnam's Lunar New Year 2026 will start on February 17. The last trading session of the lunar year 2025 is Friday, February 13.
Her sister, Pham Thuy Hang, also a vice chairwoman of the group, ranked sixth with holdings worth around VND37 trillion ($1.42 billion).
The rise of the Vingroup-linked executives pushed down long-standing industrial heavyweight Tran Dinh Long, chairman of Hoa Phat Group (HoSE: HPG).
Long’s wealth rose to approximately VND53 trillion ($2.04 billion) from VND44 trillion ($1.69 billion), placing him third overall and preserving his status as one of Vietnam’s few manufacturing billionaires.
His spouse, Vu Thi Hien, ranked ninth, with HPG shares worth about VND14 trillion ($539.09 million).
Do Anh Tuan, chairman of realty developer Sunshine Group, ranked fourth with assets of about VND45 trillion ($1.73 billion), nearly doubling from the previous year.
Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, chairwoman of budget carrier Vietjet (HoSE: VJC) and a major shareholder in HDBank, placed fifth with holdings valued at nearly VND40 trillion ($1.54 billion).
