General Secretary and President To Lam made the above suggestion while addressing a seminar with several U.S. business giants, which took place in New York on September 23 on the occasion of the top leader's participation in the high-level general debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81).

The event was jointly organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council, and the business communities of the two countries.

To proposed three pillars of cooperation with American businesses, including joint efforts to advance science and technology, foster innovation, and enhance industrial competitiveness.

He called on U.S. companies to work with Viet Nam to build technological capacity, train engineers, experts and managers, and support Vietnamese enterprises in becoming suppliers in global value chains.

The two sides should join hands to develop energy, infrastructure and green, resilient growth models, he noted.

According to the top leader, Viet Nam is promoting capital-market development and developing the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. He urged the U.S. businesses to launch long-term investment, venture capital, green finance and specialized investment funds, adding that U.S. financial institutions can help build market capacity, strengthen risk management, and develop a long-term investment ecosystem.

To also called on U.S. businesses to view Viet Nam not only as a production base but also as a rapidly growing consumer market and a gateway to the ASEAN market of around 680 million people.

Viet Nam stands ready to expand imports of U.S. technology products and services, while urging the U.S. to facilitate fair and transparent access to its market for Vietnamese goods and businesses, he shared.

Welcoming investment by major technology corporations and efforts to enhance the science and technology content of cooperation, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), To said Viet Nam is determined to advance AI in the new phase of development, while promoting responsible AI development and use for the benefit of people, businesses and organizations.

Following the seminar, the top Vietnamese leader witnessed the signing and handover of contracts and cooperation agreements between Vietnamese and U.S. agencies and businesses in areas including digital transformation, high technology, AI, aviation, green energy, healthcare and telecommunications./.
