The Australian Anti-dumping Commission has moved to initiate anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations into steel pipe products which originate from China, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam, according to the Trade Remedies Authority under Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The Australian commission says the goods which are subject to anti-dumping investigations include electric resistance welded pipes, tubes made of carbon steel which are either alloyed or non-alloyed, along with comprising circular and non-circular hollow sections that are in either galvanised or non-galvanised finishes.

Furthermore, hot rolled or cold rolled steel coil which are either alloyed or non-alloyed are also being investigated.

The period of anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations is between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2019, while the period of investigating and assessing damage being considered is from January 1, 2016, to the present.

The Vietnam Remedies Authority recommends that relevant businesses should co-operate with the Australian commission during their review, including participating in on-site investigations as a means of verifying the content in the answer sheet.

It is possible for firms to seek lawyers and consultants who have expertise in the field of trade defense in the Australian market in order to ensure co-operation is as effective as possible.

In addition, enterprises have been advised to co-ordinate alongside their export partners based in Australia to examine the extent of damage to the industry. This can be done through market research, listed financial reports, or other reliable sources of information.
