In his black and white photography projects, Anh Tien Trinh typically depicts the grandeur of nature, especially in Africa - The Black Legend and Arctic Circle - The White Legend.  

Trinh, 29, has traveled through Siberia, Russia to the other parts of the world like Africa for his fine art projects. In this picture, the Avenue of the Baobabs in Morondava, Madagascar is well-known for its huge 400- to 1,000-year-old trees.

"Compared with other parts of the world, Madagascar is something special. The island, nearly double the size of Vietnam, boasts a unique climate, animal kingdom, culture, landscape," Trinh said.

This picture was captured on his way to summit Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The highest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro, has two peaks, Mawenzi (5,148 meters) and Uhuru (5,895 meters).

Karthala Volcano belongs to the island nation Comoros with the shape of a dragon. "If trekking in the mountains is similar to long distance running, summiting volcanoes is like sprinting." Trinh said.

The danger of hiking at high altitude, in thin cold air, and amid strong winds is compounded by the threat posed by venturing near active volcanoes. "You need to be well prepared before you set out," he stressed.

Legendary Lake Baikal, located in southern Siberia, Russia is the deepest, largest and oldest fresh-water body in the world. During winter, its surface typically freezes over, creating extraordinary patterns.

North of Siberia, the Yakutsk region is the coldest area in the world, with temperatures falling below minus 70 degrees Celsius in winter.

Russia's Lena Pillars Nature Park is marked by spectacular rock pillars that reach a height of approximately 100 meters along the banks of Lena River in Yakutsk.

In the far east of Siberia, Kamchatka features a large volcanic belt containing around a 160 volcanoes, with 29 still active. The region is also famed for its geysers, hot springs and many bears.

On a return trip to Siberia, Trinh traveled to Karelia to visit Kizhi Island. "Karelia is an indispensable destination on an arctic circuit trip. Siberia is so large, I could not see it all in only one or two winters," the photographer said.

"There was only me, the 18th century wooden churches, the clock tower and land, all totally covered by snow. What could be more perfect?"

After creating seven projects based on his journeys, Trinh plans to visit Northern Africa, Scandinavia and the other parts of the world in the next few years.
