In the first eight months alone, Robusta coffee accounted for 73.3% of total export revenue, while processed coffee exports reached 1.2 billion USD, up 1.7% year-on-year and representing 19.9% of overall shipments.

Processed coffee exports grew, buoyed by steady market demand and exporters’ efforts to diversify product lines. However, the growth has yet to match its full potential owing to high production costs and increasingly stringent import standards. To expand this segment’s export share, enterprises must invest in technology, develop raw material cultivation zones, and build recognised brands.

In the domestic market, coffee prices fell in late September 2026 as the new harvest approached, as anticipated supply surges prompted buyers to adopt a cautious stance. Coffee prices in Dak Lak, Lam Dong, and Gia Lai provinces dropped by 1,700–1,800 VND per kg compared with early September, settling between 93,200 and 94,000 VND per kg.

Beyond the European Union (EU), which remains the primary buyer, Vietnamese coffee is actively making inroads into high-potential emerging markets.

In North America, Canada continues to emerge as a major destination. The share of Vietnamese coffee in Canada’s total coffee imports rose from 3.01% in the first seven months of 2025 to 3.22% in the same period in 2026.

Viet Nam is currently among the top 10 coffee suppliers to Canada, shipping 5,100 tonnes valued at 23 million USD in the first seven months. Canada remains one of the largest coffee markets in North America, with annual demand estimated at more than 5 million bags, each weighing 60kg. Coffee has become a staple of Canadian daily life, consumed at home, in workplaces, and at foodservice venues.

Alongside traditional offerings, consumers are increasingly favouring speciality coffee, high-quality roasted and ground coffee, organic products, and certified sustainable blends. Demand for coffee capsules, cold-brew coffee, and ready-to-drink beverages is also rising, especially among younger consumers.

The outlook for Canada’s coffee market remains promising, with average growth forecast at around 4.9% in 2026–2032, driven largely by consumer preference for premium, convenient products with traceable origins. This presents a prime opportunity for Vietnamese exporters to expand exports of roasted and ground coffee, instant coffee, and value-added goods to Canada.

In addition, Viet Nam was South Africa’s largest coffee supplier in the first seven months of 2026, shipping 4,600 tonnes valued at 19.9 million USD, up 53.1% in volume and 24.1% in value year-on-year. The share of Vietnamese coffee in South Africa’s total coffee imports surged from 20.1% in the first seven months of 2025 to 30.37% in the same period of 2026.
