No new COVID-19 infections were recorded in Vietnam on June 25, marking the 70 straight day without community transmission, while the total number of infections rose to 352 after three more cases returning from Kuwait were confirmed one day earlier, according to the Ministry of Health.

The three latest patients returned to Vietnam from two separate repatriation flights from Kuwait, one landing at Ho Chi Minh City-based Tan Son Nhat International Airport on June 16 and the other at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi two days later.

Among them, a male patient is receiving treatment at Ba Ria Hospital in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and the remaining female patients at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases No. 2 in Hanoi’s Dong Anh district.

The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said that the nation has recorded a total of 212 active cases entering from epidemic-hit countries and were placed in quarantined upon entry, posing no risk of local transmission.  Five out of 18 cases in treatment have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus once or at least twice.

As many as 329 out of 352 have been discharged from hospital after they have fully recovered from the virus, accounting for 93.5%, and there is no death.

Currently, more than 6,318 people are being quarantined for health observation nationwide, with 107 at hospitals and the remainder at other quarantine facilities and at their accommodations throughout the country.

Meanwhile, at a cabinet meeting on June 24, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the Vietnamese Government has yet to allow the entrance of international tourists in Vietnam due to the increasingly complicated developments of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic regionally and globally.

He also underlined the necessity of enhancing management and health observation to prevent the spread of the pandemic among the community as since mid-April the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has coordinated with relevant agencies, Vietnamese representative offices abroad, and airlines to operate a number of repatriation flights bringing home Vietnamese citizens from different countries and territories across the globe.

Concerning the country's most critical patient, a British pilot patient who is undergoing treatment at Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City, he is in the process of functional rehabilitation and psychological stability until he is able to ensure safe conditions for hospital discharge.
