"Patient 1342" is a 28-year-old resident of Ho Chi Minh City who landed November 14 at the Can Tho International Airport in the eponymous southern city on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5301.

After test results confirmed Saturday that he was positive for the novel coronavirus, he is being treated at HCMC's Cu Chi field hospital.

"Patient 1343" is a 33-year-old man from the northern port city of Hai Phong. He landed last Friday at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport on Vietjet Air flight VJ7837 and was quarantined upon arrival in the central province of Thanh Hoa.

After test results showed Sunday that he was positive for the virus, he was moved to Hanoi’s National Hospital for Tropical Diseases 2 for treatment.

Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally now stands at 1,343 cases, of which 35 died from the disease. The deaths of three people after being confirmed Covid-19 free have not been counted in either the recoveries or the deaths.

Among the 126 active cases, six, seven and 12 have tested negative for the virus once, twice and three times, respectively.

Vietnam has gone 87 days without community transmission of the virus.

The pandemic situation in many European countries and the U.S., meanwhile, remains complicated.

The Covid-19 pandemic has so far hit 218 countries and territories, with the number of infected people and deaths reported at 62 million and 1.4 million, respectively.
