At present, both the Vietnam Department of Animal Health and the VSPP have agreed on the necessary forms for quarantine certificates and requirements for disease prevention and food safety.
In a bid to make inroads into the Russian market, domestic firms must comply with regulations set by both the World Organization for Animal Health and Russia in terms of disease safety, along with food safety regulations that are in accordance with international norms and Russian policies.
With these changes set to come into effect, CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company will become the first enterprise licensed by Russia that can export processed chicken products to the Eastern European country.
Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Health, said procedures for the first batch of chickens to be exported to Russia are set to be completed in the earliest time under the guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The official export of processed chicken to Russia will serve to create opportunities for local businesses to penetrate other potential markets around the Eurasian Economic Union, such as Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Uzbekistan.
Aside from the Russian market, Vietnamese processed chicken are also being exported to Japan. In 2019, processed chicken exports raked in over US$11 million, with the figure expected to rise over the coming year.
