Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has called on Vietnam and New Zealand to adopt breakthrough measures to remove technical barriers, expand market access and raise bilateral trade to $3 billion in the near future.
The proposal was made during the Prime Minister's meeting with New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Caroline Beresford in Hanoi on July 30.
Highlighting the significant untapped potential for trade and investment cooperation, Prime Minister Hung urged both countries to implement practical solutions to facilitate market access for each other's key export products, eliminate technical barriers and maximize the benefits of the free trade agreements to which both nations are parties.
The Prime Minister also called for stronger cooperation in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transition and renewable energy, particularly in the development of wind and solar power.
In addition, he proposed expanding collaboration in education and training to develop a highly skilled workforce, while encouraging the early launch of direct air services to enhance tourism, cultural exchanges and people-to-people connectivity.
Ambassador Caroline Beresford reaffirmed New Zealand's commitment to advancing the two countries' Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a practical and effective manner, with particular focus on trade, investment, education and training, high-tech agriculture, and science and technology.
