According to AIS, online fraud and scams have become more complicated in the digital environment in recent times. In the first six months of this year, online fraud in Vietnam increased by 65 per cent over the same period last year, and rose about 38 per cent compared to the last six months of 2022.
The AIS also said that there are three main groups of frauds including brand counterfeiting, account appropriation and other combinations, with 24 types of fraud taking place in Vietnam's cyberspace.
Online scams mainly target groups such as the elderly, children, students/youth, workers/employees, and office workers. One of the main causes of this situation is determined to come from the perception of users.
In addition to technical solutions, the authority realises that communication and awareness of basic knowledge and skills is important to ensure information security in the digital space, thus helping create a safe Vietnamese cyberspace, contributing to accelerating the country’s digital transformation and developing digital socioeconomic infrastructure sustainably.
The campaign is being deployed on a large scale through popular clips about online fraud, instructions on identifying 24 types of fraud, and a set of knowledge manuals.
