Nguyen Dinh Khang, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), on November 4 handed over VND1 billion (US$43,190) to residents affected by Storm Molave in central Quang Nam province.

The delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour presents 20 million VND to the Quang Nam General Hospital, and relief aid to the residents who were injured in a landslide Ta Leng commune, Nam Tra My district, and are being treated at the hospital.

On this occasion, VND500 million has also been given to VGCL members who have been hit by the storm.

Extending his sympathies over storm-triggered losses to local residents and labourers, Khang expressed his hope that they will soon overcome the difficulties and soon stabilise their lives.

Since late September, 235 people in the central region have been listed as dead or missing from storms and floods, which have also caused estimated economic losses of about VND17 trillion, according to a Government report to the National Assembly on November 2.
