Vietnam exported 146,000 tons of pepper worth $950.2 million in the first half of 2026, up 18.5% in volume and 12.1% in value year-on-year.

The US remained the largest market, importing 36,040 tonnes worth approximately $260 million, accounting for 24.7% of Vietnam's total pepper exports in the period. Shipments to the market rose 24.5% in volume and 18.2% in value year-on-year. 

Vietnam is currently the world's largest pepper exporter, accounting for around 36.3% of global market share. Black pepper remains the dominant product, making up more than 66.3% of the country's total pepper exports. The global black pepper market is projected to approach $6 billion by 2028, creating opportunities for higher-value products such as pepper essential oil.
