Vietnam recorded 119 new local Covid-19 cases Friday noon in six localities, pushing the coronavirus tally in the new wave to 9,114.
59 cases were recorded in HCMC, 36 in Bac Giang, 12 in Binh Duong, 10 in Bac Ninh and one each in Hoa Binh and Lao Cai.

All the cases in the northern provinces of Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and Hoa Binh are associated with existing outbreaks in industrial parks.
20 cases in HCMC had made contact with coronavirus patients, seven are associated with a Christian mission Covid-19 cluster, 24 are associated with a food company at an industrial park, and eight cases are being contact traced to find the sources of infection.
10 cases in Binh Duong Province that borders HCMC are associated with existing outbreaks, and two had made contact with confirmed Covid-19 cases.
The case in the northern province of Lao Cai, a 44-year-old man, is being contact traced. This is the first case recorded in Lao Cai in the fourth wave.
Since the new wave started on April 27, community infections have been recorded in 41 cities and provinces, with Bac Giang and its neighbor Bac Ninh accounting for the highest cases, at 5,064 and 1,464, followed closely by HCMC with 1,316.
