Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son was joined by his Brazilian counterpart Marcia Donner Abreu on November 6 as the pair took part in the seventh version of a joint political consultation held at a deputy ministerial level via an online platform.

Both sides spent time briefing each other on the current situation in their respective countries, especially with details on the ongoing fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, along with measures aimed at restoring the economy and ensuring social security. They also conducted a review and assessment of bilateral co-operation ties, before discussing measures regarding how to deepen the bilateral comprehensive partnership moving forward.

The two sides also expressed their elation with regard to the strong development shown in terms of bilateral economic relations and trade. Indeed, an agreement was reached to continue close co-ordination in order to maintain the current development momentum in relations, whilst also promoting trade and investment, especially in terms of the trade of farm produce, among others.

Throughout the occasion the two officials consented to speed up the signing of agreements with the aim of perfecting the legal framework for bilateral co-operation in the fields of education, technology, investment, and national defence.

They also compared notes on international and regional issues that can be considered of common interest, with both sides agreeing to continue their mutual co-ordination and support at international organisations and multilateral forums, of which both nations are members.
