On the theme of “Advancing Africa’s Development through People, Technology and Innovation”, the event examined ways to promote peace and stability in the continent through initiatives set up by African countries and focused on measures to speed up economic transformation and business environment in Africa through innovation and the involvement of private sector.
A broad array of conferences and workshops will be held on the sidelines of the TICAD 7, highlighting the important role of the private sector in materializing sustainable economic growth goals in Africa.
As planned, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is due to announce a program to support Africa in promoting development and expand Japanese investment in the continent.
The conference will adopt a joint statement, calling for increased investment of the private sector to spur growth in the area.
Initiated by Japan from 1993, TICAD is designed to boost policy dialogue among leaders of African countries and their development partners on urgent issues facing the content such as economic development and poverty reduction.
