The figure was stated in a conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh issued following his recent teleconference with localities on the completion of the National Power Development Plan for the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision to 2045.

The mentioned-above total capacity of power generation sources may meet the demand for maximum load capacity of the power system of 93,300 MW by 2030. 

The draft National Power Development Plan VIII outlines a roadmap to cut coal-fired electricity to just 9.6 per cent of total capacity by 2045, while the share of wind and solar power is raised to 50.7 per cent, ensuring Việt Nam's commitments to energy transformation.

It also takes into account measures to realize Viet Nam's commitments at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), including net-zero emissions by 2050./.
