Regarding the ongoing situation in Ukraine, Hang said:

“Viet Nam shared ASEAN's views in the Declaration of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers on Ukraine on February 26, as well as in the remarks of the Head of the Permanent Mission of Viet Nam to the United Nations at the Special Emergency Session of the UN General Assembly on March 1.

Viet Nam demands respect for international law, the UN Charter, and the settlement of disputes by peaceful means, on the basis of fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter, especially the principles of respecting independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of states, the non-interference in internal affairs, and the non-use or threat to use force in international relations.

"Viet Nam is greatly concerned about the armed conflict situation in Ukraine. We call on all concerned parties to exercise restraint and immediately ease using force to avoid causing casualties and damage to civilians.

“Viet Nam welcomes the ongoing dialogue between the two delegations of Ukraine and Russia, hoping that both sides will soon find a long-term peaceful solution to their differences on the basis of respecting international law, taking into account the legitimate rights and interests of the relevant parties; ensuring security, safety, and the essential needs of the people, whilst protecting the essential infrastructure in accordance with international humanitarian laws”, the spokesperson stated.

The country supports and proposes that the international community continue to create conditions for the parties to hold dialogue and promote aid and humanitarian relief for people; requests that relevant parties ensure security and safety and provide the favorable conditions for evacuation when necessary for the expatriate communities living in Ukraine, including the Vietnamese community, Hang added.
