According to the Viet Nam Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation (VSDC), as of July 31, 2025, the total number of domestic trading accounts stood at 10,447,486.

Of these, 10,428,983 were individual investor accounts, while institutional investors held 18,503 accounts, an increase of 164 accounts, slightly below June’s increase of 166.

This means domestic investor accounts rose by 226,153 in July 2025, the highest monthly increase in nearly a year. The growth was driven predominantly by individual investors, with institutional accounts adding just 164.

Meanwhile, the number of foreign investor accounts reached 48,781, including 44,103 individual accounts and 4,678 institutional accounts, up by 179 and 9 respectively from the previous month.

Cumulatively, over the first seven months of 2025, Viet Nam added 1.2 million new securities accounts, bringing the total to nearly 10.5 million.

The rise in newly opened accounts continued steadily throughout the year, with a significant surge in July. Viet Nam’s benchmark, VN-Index, hit a historic peak on July 28 on the 25th anniversary of the market’s establishment. The VN-Index had gained over 126 points (+9.16%) by July 31, surpassing the 1,500 mark, with average daily trading value on Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) reaching nearly 33 trillion VND (1.26 billion USD) per session.
