The Ministry of Health confirmed 45 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday evening, raising the national patient tally to 4,809.

The latest patients include five Vietnamese returnees brought home from the Philippines on April 28.

All the others are local infections recorded in Bac Giang (24), Bac Ninh (10), HCMC (three), Lang Son (one), Hai Duong (one), and Vinh Phuc (one).

Earlier the same day, the ministry confirmed 74 domestic cases.

The ministry also reported that two patients have been cleared of the virus and exited hospitals, taking the total recoveries to 2,689./.
