The latest death is a 91-year-old man who suffered from knee pain, cirrhosis, diabetes, hypertension, and gout.
The man admitted to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District on May 3.
On May 11, he tested positive for COVID-19 and became COVID-19 patient numbered 3554, and then was taken to extensive care unit as he needed a ventilator, dialysis, and anti-inflammatory drug.
However, his health conditions deteriorated and passed away on May 19.
The cause of his death has been septic shock, septicaemia, and bilateral pyelonephritis in patients with cirrhosis, diabetes, hypertension and COVID-19.
As of 7:00 pm on Thursday, Viet Nam’s national caseload reached 4,809, including 1,761 local infection cases confirmed in 30 cities and provinces nationwide since April 27 when the fourth wave of local transmissions broke out./.
