With this figure, Viet Nam becomes the fastest-growing economy in Southeast Asia and in the world. This is a hard-won achievement amid amid continued global volatility, particularly trade tensions and the U.S. reciprocal tax policy. 

The average annual GDP growth during 2021–2025 is estimated at around 6.3 percent, slightly higher than the 6.2 percent recorded in the previous five-year term. 

In 2025, Viet Nam's GDP at current prices is projected to reach US$514 billion, up US$38 billion compared to the previous year. GDP per capita is estimated at US$5,026, an increase of US$326 from 2024 (US$4,700), pushing Viet Nam into the upper-middle-income country group.

Services remain the largest contributor to the economy's added value, accounting for over 51.08 percent of total growth. The sector's added value expanded by 8.62 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, industry and construction grew by 8.95 percent, contributing 43.62 percent to the economy's total added value. Agriculture, forestry and fisheries made up 5.3 percent of GDP growth.

Business dynamism also improved. In 2025, nearly 297,500 new enterprises were established or resumed operations, a 27.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year—equivalent to an average of 24,800 firms per month. Meanwhile, about 18,900 businesses exited the market each month.

Corporate sentiment showed further signs of recovery. In Q4 2025, the share of businesses reporting improved conditions compared to the previous quarter rose by 1.1 percent, while the proportions of firms saying conditions were stable or more challenging declined by 0.2 percent and 0.9 percent, respectively.

In 2026, Viet Nam targets to achieve an ambitious GDP growth goal of at least 10 percent, GDP per capita of US$5,400–5,500./.
