Viet Nam is expected to export 8.8 million tons of rice in 2025

In the first seven months of 2025, Viet Nam shipped 5.5 million tons of rice worth US$2.81 billion, up 3.1 percent in volume, down 15.9 percent in value.

The country has introduced a unique rice variety unavailable anywhere else, which has already secured large orders from Japan at premium rates.

Domestic enterprises continue to expand exports to Africa, a promising but high-risk market due to slow payments. 

In 2024, rice exports reach a record high of over 9 million tons worth around US$5.7 billion, an increase of approximately 11–13 percent in volume and 23–24 percent in value compared to 2023./.
