The latest cases were recorded in 59 provinces and cities in which Ha Noi still reported the most with 986 cases, followed by northern provinces of Phu Tho and Quang Ninh with 836 and 550 cases, respectively.

In addition, the Department of Health of Dak Nong reported additional 18,545 cases, raising the COVID-19 count on Thursday to 30,574 and Viet Nam's patient tally to 10,533,164.

An additional 8,693 patients were declared free of the virus, taking the total number of recoveries at 9,076,927.

The ministry also reported further nine fatalities, bringing the nation's COVID-19 death toll to 42,991 or 0.4 percent of the national caseload.
