Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh detailed the appointment of 12 newly accredited ambassadors on June 9 who will serve from the 2020 to 2023 tenure, whilst requesting that each of them act as pioneers to promote the nation’s interests with partner countries.

The remarks made by Vice President Thinh outlined how each of the ambassadors have been assigned to pioneer political-diplomatic efforts, realise economic diplomacy in an effort to support the country’s post-pandemic recovery, as well as contributing to safeguarding the nation’s independence. Alongside protecting Vietnamese sovereignty and territorial integrity, ambassadors will be expected to promote the country and its people to international friends.
This year the nation is undertaking the dual task of being a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020 to 2021 term, and the Chair of ASEAN 2020. Moreover, the Vietnamese National Assembly’s ratification of the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and the European Union-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement marks a historic moment in the process of the country’s international economic integration, the Vice President said.
On behalf of the 12 newly appointed ambassadors, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Nguyen Hoanh Nam promised to fulfill all tasks entrusted by the Party, State, Government, and people in an effort to promote Vietnamese relations with partner nations and to ultimately contribute to national development.
