A wide range of products on offer along with various discounts and promotional programmes has seen the Valentine’s Day gift market do a roaring trade in Hanoi.

Presents specifically for couples, such as chocolates, flowers, jewelry, teddy bears, T-shirts, decorative objects, and gift boxes are selling well in many shops located on main roads throughout Hanoi.

Chocolates and roses prove to be a popular gift on the occasion. A French heart-shaped chocolate box costs between VND150,000 and VND350,000, while a bar of Belgian chocolate costs between VND35,000 and VND85,000.

Local people queue up as they purchase chocolate for their lovers.

A number of cosmetic shops can be found offering attractive discounts on thousands of products, including skincare and hair care items.

This year has seen a decline in the number of young customers purchasing flowers on Valentine's Day due to their high price.

Indeed, the price of a Da Lat rose is VND10,000, while a bunch of Explorer, Ecuador, and Scabiosa roses costs between one and several millions of VND, depending on their size.

To mark the occasion, several five-star hotels have been fully booked due to their wonderful offers for couples. Most notably, a romantic dinner costs around VND5 million per couple.
