According to the agreement, Synopsys will support SHTP establish a chip design centre by donating software licenses through the Synopsys University Software Programme, an initiative that aims to inspire and foster the next generation of technologists and innovators.
Academic and research institutions with exclusive members will be trained based on Synopsys’s electronic design automation tools and technology, which help turn highly-skilled graduates into professionals.

SHTP will invest in technology infrastructure to establish a chip design centre.
Nguyen Anh Thi, director of SHTP Management Authority said, “The cooperation will help SHTP enjoy the benefit from the chip design technology of Synopsys. It is expected to foster the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.”
Robert Li, vice president at Synopsys in charge of Taiwan and South Asia, said at the signing ceremony, “The biggest challenge of the global chip industry is engineer shortage. Meanwhile, Vietnam’s advantage is the lower cost than other countries in Southeast Asia, such as Malaysia and Singapore.”
Synopsys is an American electronic design automation company that focuses on silicon design and verification, silicon intellectual property, and software security and quality.
Synopsys is considered one of the global leaders in electronic design automation and semiconductors, providing a broad range of security services and testing tools in the industry. It currently has an office in Ho Chi Minh City.
