by the QS World University Rankings 2021 – QS WUR 2021. 
 

Viet Nam National University-Ho Chi Minh City and Viet Nam National University-Ha Noi have debuted in the ranking. 

This is the third successive year Viet Nam National University in Ha Noi has been listed in the top 801-1000.

QS WUR 2020 evaluated 1,620 educational institutions from 82 countries, of which 1,001 were ranked, 50 universities participated for the first time, 94,000 feedback from scientists were collected, 45,000 responses from recruiters were used, 83 million quotes from 13 million articles in the 2013-2018 period were analyzed and 1.5 million nominations from scholars and 240,000 nominations by employers were given. 

The 6 metrics used to compile the QS WUR are as follows: Academic Reputation (40%), Employer Reputation (10%), Faculty/Student Ratio (20%), Citations per Faculty (20%), International Faculty Ratio (5%) and International Student Ratio (5%).

In Southeast Asia, 20 Malaysian universities were ranked, 8 in Thailand, four in the Philippines, eight in Indonesia and three in Singapore.
