A festival featuring thousands of lotus-shaped lanterns took place at Tran Quoc pagoda on October 9 in Hanoi to mark 1,010 years of Thang Long-Hanoi, along with celebrations for the 66th anniversary of Hanoi Liberation Day. 

The festival focuses on holding prayers for nationwide peace and the happiness of the country’s citizens.

Hau A Lenh, Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and leaders of Hanoi’s administration enjoy the occasion.

A large number of Buddhists from across the nation gather at Tran Quoc pagoda in order to participate in the festival.

The event aims to pay tribute to previous generations and pray for the country to enjoy peace as part of activities to celebrate 1,010 years of Thang Long-Hanoi, in addition to commemorating the 66th anniversary of Hanoi Liberation Day.
