The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has proposed that customs declarations for rice exports should be re-opened as normal.

This official proposal by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to resume rice exports came following Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's direction on  the implement of a temporary halt to rice shipments for export.

The suggestion was made after the ministry received feedback from local firms. 

According to the ministry, the suspension of rice exports gives additional time in which to assess the real output during the winter-spring harvest season, the number of signed export contracts, and the volume of stockpiles among businesses.
