Authorities said Friday that the Mui Hoi ecotourism-resort villa project and Mui Hoi - Ngoc Suong eco-tourism project in Cam Lap Commune, Cam Ranh City had received their investment certificates in 2011-2012, but constructions had not been completed to date.

Mui Hoi is a 40-hectare project invested by Van Phong Limited Company, while the latter sits on an eight-hectare area invested in by the Ngoc Suong Joint Stock Company. Both are Vietnamese firms.

Tran Minh Hai, deputy director of Khanh Hoa's department of planning and investment, said the two projects are located on land assigned for defense purposes. They are also in vicinity of the Cam Ranh military base. This fact was known to both the local authorities and the Ministry of National Defence, and the latter approved the issuance of investment certificates.

However in September 2015, the Prime Minister issued a regulation to bolster security of Cam Ranh military zone. Under the new regulation, no tourist activities were allowed on Mui Hoi, Binh Ba and Hon Chut areas.

The provincial People's Committee has written to the defence ministry asking for comments on the issue, but is yet to receive a reply.

"After having a discussion, we saw that the two projects are in the military zone, which is quite sensitive, so we revoked the investment certificates," Hai said.

The Khanh Hoa Department of Planning and Investment has said that the province will calculate and devise a compensation plan for the investors.
