Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong on Monday held phone talks with Chairman of the United Russia Party and Deputy Chair of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

Medvedev congratulated Viet Nam on the success of the 13th National Party Congress, saying that the Congress marked an important milestone as it worked out tasks to further promote the national economy development for the happiness and prosperity of the Vietnamese people, thereby contributing to peace and security in the region and the world.

He also extended congratulations to Trong upon the latter’s re-election as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee (CPVCC).

Medvedev conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Party General Secretary and State President Trong, affirming that the Russian Federation attaches importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Viet Nam.

He also said his country stands ready to boost cooperation with the Southeast Asian country in the COVID-19 fight and other areas as well.

Trong expressed sincere thanks to the fine sentiments of the top Russian leaders, people and the United Russia Party for Viet Nam, which reflect the trust and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and countries.

He affirmed the Party and State of Viet Nam always attach importance to consolidating and enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia.

The relations between the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the United Russia Party have created important foundations for deepening the two countries’ ties, thus contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world./.
