The campaign ceremony featured the Board of Directors and employees of Tokio Marine Insurance Vietnam, representatives of the National and Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, Binh Duong Education and Training Department, local administrative associations, the school management boards, and nearly 1,000 students.

Khuat Viet Hung, vice chairman of NTSC said, “The National Traffic Safety Committee is pleased to coordinate with Tokio Marine Insurance Vietnam to organise the helmet awarding ceremony to students as well as disseminate education on traffic safety.”

“The programme aims to raise people's awareness about law obedience requiring children to wear helmets when riding motorbikes, mopeds, and e-bicycles, thereby minimising the consequences of traffic accidents causing to children, contributing to reaching the goal of all children wearing helmets meeting national technical standards for safe traffic participation."

“Road traffic accidents are on the rise worldwide and continue to be one of the leading causes of death and serious injury among children and adolescents in Vietnam for the past years,” said Yasuhiro Takeda, general director of Tokio Marine Insurance Vietnam.

“However, we believe that traffic accidents are completely preventable through prudent measures. We hope that the small gifts of helmets we deliver today not only serve as the protective gear safeguarding all the students during their journey to schools, but also nurture the practice of road safety behaviours as well as the values of responsible citizenship.”

The company also presented 10 financial scholarships to students who have either suffered from traffic accidents themselves or lost a parent due to such unfortunate incidents in Binh Duong during the past year, hopefully to support students and families to overcome challenges and do better.

During the ceremony, the company teamed up with the schools and local traffic police to conduct a sharing session with all pupils and parents on the topic “Traffic Safety Practice” to help enhance awareness and habits among the children and their parents in daily life when travelling on roads.

Huynh Thi Ngoc Tam, headmaster of Hiep An Secondary School based in Thu Dau Mot City said, “The school's teachers and students would like to thank Tokio Marine Vietnam Insurance for giving the students such meaningful gifts, which not only help them to raise awareness of safe traffic participation but also secure an assured mindset to study and strive to improve. The school is located near a national highway, so high-quality helmets will help the students feel secure when travelling every day.”

The ceremony closed in a memorable and happy atmosphere with smiles from the teachers, pupils, parents and all the participants in Thu Dau Mot, Binh Duong province.
