March 8, 2022 marked one year since Viet Nam launched the largest vaccination campaign against COVID-19, which turned Viet Nam into one of the six countries with the highest vaccination rate.
Particularly, the Government decided to implement the Spring Inoculation campaign from January 28 to February 29 with an aim to bring children back to school as soon as possible.
About 1 million children aged 5-11 are expected to get vaccine in the time to come as the Government had ordered nearly 22 million doses from Pfizer.
High vaccination rate allowed Viet Nam to switch away from its previous COVID-19 response policy of zero-COVID-19 to safe and flexible adaptation to the pandemic since last October.
The Southeast Asian country began to welcome back foreign tourists from November last year under a pilot program and has decided to reopen borders to all international tourists from March 15.
