The successful power connection is considered a particularly important technical milestone, laying the groundwork for inspecting and testing multiple systems.

Accordingly, the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board has successfully linked the electrical system from the 110 kV transformer station to the 22 kV power receiving station (medium-voltage electricity), officially guaranteeing power supply for the inspection and testing of a range of essential technical systems of the project.

The 110 kV transformer station is constructed within the project site, comprising two transformers with a total capacity of 80 MVA. At present, all components of the transformer station have been completed, meeting the requirement for stable and continuous power supply to Long Thanh International Airport during both the construction phase and upon official operation. The station’s commissioning has reduced the radius of the 22 kV power distribution network, minimised power loss, and ensured voltage quality for aviation equipment that has high technical requirements.

According to the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board, the airport’s average monthly power consumption stands at approximately 730,000 kWh, equivalent to that of a major enterprise in Dong Nai province. This figure reflects the massive operational scale of the project, even before the airport is officially inaugurated.

The successful power connection is also considered a critical milestone that helps facilitate the inspection and test-run of air traffic control systems, airport lighting, runways, passenger terminals, and specialised technical equipment. It also serves as essential groundwork for receiving the first technical flight on December 19, in line with the schedule assigned by the Government without delay.

Long Thanh International Airport is built on an area exceeding 5,000 ha in Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province. Upon the completion of all construction phases, the airport’s service capacity will reach 100 million passengers and five million tonnes of cargo annually.

This is the largest airport project ever undertaken in Viet Nam, in terms of area, total investment, and strategic importance within the national and regional aviation network.
