In the first half of August (1-15/8), the country imported 6,195 vehicles, with a total value of US$114.66 million. Of which, cars with 9 seats or less accounted for the largest number with 5,509 vehicles, reaching a value of US$89.2 million.
Thus, from the beginning of the year to August 15th, the whole country imported 97,767 completely built-up (CBU) cars, with a total value of over US$2 billion.
Compared to the same period last year, the import volume of cars increased by 16.2% (equivalent to 13,619 vehicles), while the value increased by 1.6%.
In terms of the market, the top three names include: Indonesia, Thailand, and China.
Notably, Indonesia led in terms of import volume with 38,040 vehicles, reaching a value of US$557.3 million (updated to the end of July 2024).
Meanwhile, Thailand ranked second in terms of volume with 32,717 vehicles, while leading in terms of value with US$628.6 million.
With 17,235 vehicles and a value of US$521.65 million, China ranked third in terms of volume but second in terms of value.
With 87,992 vehicles, the top three markets alone accounted for 96% of the total import volume of cars in the country during the same period.
