As many as 342 overseas students from the provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang, and Xay So Bun in Laos have been granted permission to start procedures to enter the northern province of Son La as part of the provincial People's Committee's plan to welcome back Laotian students to universities and colleges throughout the locality.

The scheme was first put into practice on June 17 at the Chieng Khuong international border gate in Song Ma district of Son La province by the Son La Border Guards in co-ordination with other functional forces.

Most notably, both the reception and the various medical examinations were carried out in strict accordance to regulations relating to novel coronavirus prevention and control.
