Two pharmaceutical companies from Russia and Ukraine, POLYSAN and FARMAR, provided an aid package of medical supplies to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases on June 19.

Representatives from the Ministry of Health stated that the aid package has a total value of US$44,360 and is capable of supporting novel coronavirus (COVID-19) treatment and prevention activities nationwide.

The donation includes 50,600 tablets, 5,115 tubes of Cycloferon, along with 30,000 tablets of Amizon.

Dr. Pham Ngoc Thach, director of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, said the hospital is currently testing Cycloferon as a way of treating measles and influenza.

Indeed, it can be used to strengthen patient’s immune system and enhance muscle resistance, adding that the hospital will use this drug as they attempt to treat COVID-19 patients who are immunocompromised.

Amizon is a drug invented by FARMAK and is currently recognised by doctors in 11 countries. It is mainly used as a safe and effective medicine to treat flu and respiratory diseases.

Furthermore, Cycloferon is prescribed in the treatment of influenza and acute respiratory diseases. Following its use by several countries, it has shown positive therapeutic effects.
