The Maxport 9 rooftop solar system is one of these projects to accomplish this sustainable environment strategy.

The construction of the solar power system started in the fourth quarter of 2021 and is expected to be put into operation in the first quarter this year. With a capacity of 1,6MWp, the system, consisting of 3,000 monocrystalline panels and 13 cutting-edge inverters, renders automatic operation including capacity control and energy loss minimisation.

The installation offers tremendous benefits from a production perspective as all electricity generated is consumed on the spot, meeting half of the power demand for the plant’s production.

Every year, the system generates about 1,800MWh of clean electricity, helping with a CO2 reduction of about 1,500 tonnes per year. With an average age of around 25 years, such a system can help to avoid about 35,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, equivalent to 40 per cent reduction in CO2 in comparison to coal-fired power sources.

In the near future, Maxport will continue to scale up the rooftop solar system and apply green building standards, ensuring production efficiency while achieving its sustainable development goals.
