The flight coded VJ961 carrying 229 Vietnamese citizens and foreign tourists from the Republic of Korea landed at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh province on March 1 with all the passengers being transferred to isolated facilities amid the increasingly complicated developments of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.

All passengers onboard the flight were provided with a medical examination and disinfectant in accordance with procedures set out by the Ministry of Health, while the International Health Quarantine Center and other relevant units made use of remote temperature gauges in a bid to screen and detect specific cases of illness.
Following the completion of customs procedures of entry, each passenger was transferred to the quarantine facilities to undergo a period of strict monitoring for 14 days in line with regulations set by the health sector.
Previously, the Quang Ninh provincial People's Committee had convened a meeting aimed at discussing plans to receive flights carrying Vietnamese citizens and foreign visitors from the RoK at Van Don International Airport to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic following instructions from the Prime Minister.

Dang Huy Hau, Permanent Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh People's Committee, requested that relevant departments and agencies move to draw up concrete plans where regulations set by the Ministry of Health can be deployed to ensure ideal conditions for passengers once in isolation.
The transport industry has also been co-operating with the police and relevant agencies as they take drastic measures in an attempt to ensure traffic safety throughout the province.
