“To achieve the set goals, Quang Ngai has identified driving sectors to create development breakthroughs in the forthcoming time. Along with this, the growth drivers include industry, agriculture, trade, and services,” Hien said.
Regarding industry, Quang Ngai will continue to exploit existing strengths and potentials in fundamental industries with the main focus being petrochemical refining, chemicals, metallurgy, and mechanical manufacturing.
In the forthcoming time, the sector shall prioritise the development of processing and manufacturing at a reasonable scale, diversifying supporting industries in particular.
Additionally, Quang Ngai aims to develop an environmentally friendly power sector and those associated with the marine economy; and proactively promote the connection between Dung Quat Economic Zone and Chu Lai Open Economic Zone to form a key coastal industrial production centre.
In terms of the agricultural sector, the fresh planning highlights the need for Quang Ngai to focus on developing quality, valuable, green, and sustainable agriculture gearing towards centralisation and modernisation.
Efforts shall also be made to restructure agro-forestry-fisheries in the direction of reducing the proportion of agriculture while bolstering the proportion of forestry and fisheries, as well as forming high-tech agricultural zones, concentrated livestock areas, and crop farms.
The planning also orients the development of village-based trade and service industry by choosing to develop tourism into an important economic sector, with the core being Ly Son sea-island tourism centre along with developing experiential tourism associated with the culture, history, and core values of Quang Ngai.
Elsewhere, efforts shall be made to bolster the performance of economic corridors in all directions, as well as arrange spaces for the development of urban areas, industrial parks, and logistics centres. These works can help promote international trade, focusing on developing cultural and ecological tourism, services, industry, agriculture, and more.
According to Quang Ngai People’s Committee, defining economic corridors to link areas within and outside the province will ensure Quang Ngai is an important link in the region’s economic development, promoting regional connectivity as well as boosting the symbiotic relationship between economic spaces in the province as well as with neighbouring localities.
