A case of smuggling some 848 tonnes of ores, worth more than VND 6.6 billion has been prosecuted by Hai Phong Customs Department.

According to Customs News, on June 22, a leader of Hai Phong Customs Department signed Decision 1068/QD-HQHP to prosecute a criminal case of illegal transport goods cross border at Nam Hai Dinh Vu port (Hai Phong) on May 16.
Around 2:00 PM on May 16, at the port yard of Ha Hung Hai Company, Dong Hai 2 Ward, Hai An District, Customs Enforcement Team (Hai Phong Customs Department) worked with Economic Police Department (Hai Phong City Police Department) ), Reconnaissance Team No. 1 (Command of Coast Guard Region 1) to detect and seize the consignment.
Cargo of Ngoc Thien Co., Ltd. (located in Chi Dao commune, Van Lam district, Hung Yen province) was packed in 30 containers.
According to Hai Phong Customs Department, the goods were declared as "unrefined lead ingots, branded new 100%".
However, the physical inspection and verification of agencies and concerned organisations showed the actual goods was ore called "Bismuth and articles thereof", which has an average content of copper (Cu) 4.87%, content of gold (Au) 12.27 grams/tonne. This was an item that was not allowed to export under the provisions of Circular 12/2016/TT-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
This is one of the largest cases seizing ore in Hai Phong in recent years.
